On Wednesday morning in Royse City, Texas, a crash involving two semi trucks turned fatal.

The collision took place just before 7 a.m. According to officials, a semi that was traveling west on I-30 crossed over a median, then struck another semi that was traveling east. A third vehicle was also involved in the incident.

The aftermath was a mangled mess.

Authorities confirmed that three people died as a result of the crash.

Fox 4 News reported that I-30 eastbound lanes between FM 35 and FM 2642 are expected to remain closed for hours. Officials expect that side of the highway to reopen around 3 p.m. I-30 westbound travel has been reduced to one open lane.

Police reported that traffic is being diverted onto FM 276 and State Highway 66. Drivers are urged to avoid the area of the crash.

The incident is under investigation.
