Two people from Middleburg, Virginia have been arrested and are currently in custody after a shooting that took place last night in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

According to police, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-81 near mile marker 52 in Middlesex Township.

23-year-old Tony Thomas was reportedly in a 2008 Ford F250 pickup truck when he fired one shot from a .380 semi-automatic handgun.

The gun was aimed into the cab of a 43-year-old West Virginia man’s truck.

The truck driver was not hit by the bullet. Instead, the bullet traveled through the passenger side window and struck the windshield directly in front of the driver. The trucker suffered injuries from the shattered glass.

The trucker managed to then drive his truck to the rest area near exit 37 in Penn Township.

Soon after, police arrested Tony Thomas.

The Sentinel reported that the semi truck driver said he had not been involved in any road rage incidents, but he explained that he experienced an unusual encounter with Curran and Thomas before the shooting.

An affidavit stated that Thomas and Curran were having an argument while they were traveling in the pickup truck, which was being driven by another person. Curran asked him to let her out of the car.

Upon seeing Curran along the side of the road, the semi truck driver picked her up and let her use his cell phone. She called Thomas, and he dropped her back off with Thomas.

Once she returned to the pickup truck, Curran told Thomas that the tractor trailer driver attempted to rape her.

Police caught the suspects in Franklin County. Upon questioning, Thomas told police

“you guys already know what happened.”

Yet he denied the mention of an attempted sexual assault.

According to ABC 27, the shooter has been charged with conspiracy, two felony accounts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and propulsion of missiles into an occupied vehicle. His bail has been set at $200,000 bail.

Curran was charged with rioting and disorderly conduct in connection with the shooting. Her bail has been set at $100,000.

Officials remind the public that upon encountering an overly aggressive driver, one should try to create distance between vehicles, write down a description of the vehicle and call 911.
