A Swift Transportation driving instructor in Corsicana, Texas, was killed during a training drill on Thursday morning.
Corsicana Police confirmed his identity as 61-year-old Alvin “Lynn” Thomas of Barry, Texas. It happened at the Swift Driving Academy located in the 2400 block of S. Business 45.
According to the Daily Sun, he was pinned between two tractor trailers during a backing drill and died at the scene.
Ralph Dress, a truck driver trainee who was recently trained by Thomas commented on the incident. “I am presently training at Swift and he was my first week backing instructor. Very tough, but very fair. The best of the best,” he wrote.
“He took me when I couldn’t back straight to save my life and got me looking like a pro. He really cared that we were safe and would be safe drivers when we get out there on the road. There are countless people who have their CDL today because of him and are doing a job that they really love and that he really loved. All of his students, coworkers and friends are devastated,” Dress added.
