The owners of California Freight Inc. were arrested after allegedely stealing 1,800 gallons of diesel fuel straight out the tank of a fueling station in Greenfield, Indiana.

According to Fox-59, 58-year-old Jaswinder Singh and 53-year-old Harpreet Sandhu made multiple trips to the Jackson Oil & Solvents fueling station, where they parked their trucks over a tank cover and siphoned diesel fuel from underneath the station.

At first, the owner of fuel station thought the fuel pumps were not working properly. After closer inspection, he realized that the pumps were working fine, but the station’s fuel supply was depleted overnight. When he checked their surveillance cameras, he saw a truck pull into the station in the middle of the night, insert a hose into the underground fuel tank, and leave after 45 minutes.

The first theft occurred in December of 2014, and struck several more times in the following months, until officers finally caught them in the middle of one of their fuel heists.

In total, the men stole 1,789 gallons of fuel, with an approximate total value of $6520. Singh and Sandhu were arrested and charged with felony theft and corrupt business influence. It is believed that the men were were using the stolen fuel to operate their company’s trucks.

They were released on $10,000 bond and will have to appear in court at a later date.
