A trucker found a toddler wandering alone and returned her to her family.

The incident occurred on the evening of April 26 in the San Jacinto area of California.

According to The Press-Enterprise, 34-year-old Trucker Luis Navarro noticed that the girl was alone near traffic.  He then asked about the location of her home and parents. He said she replied “cama”, which is Spanish for bed, without offering much more information.

Navarro then took the girl to the back of one of two nearby houses and opened the door. A boy inside the home confirmed that the girl was his sister. Soon after, the girl’s parents appeared, had a discussion with Navarro and took their daughter.

Navarro recorded the incident live on Facebook. He told Fox 11 news that he did so for his own safety.

Navarro ultimately contacted the Riverside County Sherriff’s Department, which is investigating the incident. They believe that the girl exited her home while her mother was tending to another child.

Meanwhile, the Riverside County Sherriff’s Department expressed appreciation for Navarro’s deed.

“We are grateful for the quick actions of the passing motorist,” Riverside County Sherriff’s Sgt. Chris Durham wrote.
