A truck driver is now safe after being rescued from a flooded road.
It happened at approximately 7 a.m. Thursday on Arkansas 37 in Elgin, Arkansas.
According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, authorities said that two officials from the Jackson County sheriff’s office and one from the Tuckerman Police Department showed up in a boat and rescued 63-year-old Ibrahim Velasquez from the water. The Florida trucker’s big rig had been carried away by flooding.
David Lucas, the Jackson County Sheriff, recommended that motorists not go around barricades alerting them about road closures. He said in a statement that they were putting themselves as well as those who attempt to help them in danger.
