A video which shows several police vehicles attempting to stop a semi truck in Atoka, Oklahoma, was shared on Facebook earlier this week. Initial reports indicated that the driver was trying to evade officer who attempted to pull him over for a traffic stop.
The truth, however, turned out to be that the driver wasn’t able to stop because he was passed out at the wheel due to a medical condition.
“It was freaky. It looked like he was leaning against his window as he passed by.” Witness Devon Woodall told reporters.
After a short chase, police were able to stop the semi truck with spike strips on Highway 69. According to the Durant Daily Democrat, the driver “was passed out on the steering wheel as his foot continued to push on the accelerator pedal.” He reportedly suffered a heart attack behind the wheel.
The driver was taken to a nearby hospital after the semi came to a stop. No one else was injured in the incident. The current condition of the driver has not been released.
