A truck driver was killed on Saturday afternoon after being struck by a motorist who failed to stop at a stop sign.
The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. in Elba, New York.
According to state police, a motorist in a 2013 Honda Civic was traveling on Lockport Road and failed to observe a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 98.
The Honda then struck a 2004 Peterbilt tractor trailer that was headed north on SR98, causing the truck to overturn.
The impact sent both vehicles off the roadway, knocking down a power pole. Live power wires from the downed pole delayed crews from approaching the vehicles.
The truck driver, 29-year-old Jerry Tuttle of Kinsley, Pennsylvania, was killed in the crash.
The motorist, 45-year-old Franca Monachino, also died in the crash.
