
A tanker truck driver was killed on Tuesday mornng when his rig caught fire on an Ohio ramp.
According to police reports, the truck driver lost control while taking the U.S. 33 East ramp to I-270 North in Dublin, Ohio, and struck a guardrail. The impact caused the tranker trailer, which was loaded with nearly 8,000 pounds of gasoline, to ignite.
The fire created a large plume of black smoke that could be seen in both directions. The crash shut down Highway 33 and Interstate 270 for several hours as firefighters battled the blaze.
Ohio DOT reported that the ramp, which was only a few months old, will be closed for at least one week for repairs.
The driver of the tanker truck was killed in the crash. His identity has not been revealed.
No one else was injured.
An off-duty Sunbury police officer witnessed the crash and caught this chilling footage of the scene.
