
The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the surveillance footage of a fiery tractor trailer crash that claimed that life of a truck driver near Amarillo, Texas.
It happened at approximately 9:30 a.m, at the westbound Interstate 40 overpass over Bushland Road. The footage shows the truck veering off Interstate 40, breaking through a guardrail, and crashing into a bridge pillar on the road below.
The truck immediately catches fire and is fully engulfed minutes later.
Texas DPS confirmed that 48-year-old Arnold Delarosa, of Mission, Texas, passed away as a result of the tragic accident. No other vehicles were involved.
TxDOT officials have closed the bridge on Interstate 40 westbound in order to assess the damages. They have indicated that the closure will last for an extended period of time.
“I-40 heading westbound will be closed most likely for months,” said TxDOT spokesperson Sonja Gross. “We will most likely be looking at a full bridge replacement.”
It’s unclear what caused the driver to leave the interstate. The investigation remains underway.
