Houston Police are investigating the death of a truck driver who was shot in the neck on the Gulf Freeway in Houston, Texas.

According to KPRC 2, around 4:30 a.m. this morning, the trucker was shot and killed near Almeda Geona Road. The trucker reportedly pulled his truck over near Almeda Mall and got out of his truck before he died.

Police are investigating what led to the shooting and if it has any connection to another shooting that happened in the same area on the same morning.

Update (5:49 p.m.):

Police have confirmed that the truck driver was shot after an altercation at the Sun Suites extended stay hotel.

After the shooting, the driver left the scene in his semi truck, but stopped on a Gulf Freeway overpass to get help. After leaving his rig, the injured driver lost his balance and fell off the overpass, landing on the road below.

His identity has not been revealed.
