In Mobile, Alabama, a truck driver from Mississippi has been hospitalized after an object thrown through his windshield hit him head on.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning around 2 a.m. on Highway 98 near Lakeview Drive.

Jones told WALB News,

“The next thing I know the windshield just exploded – everything went black.”

Jones slammed on the breaks, stopping in the middle of the road. A driver behind him witnessed the incident and immediately called 911.

Jones told police that he remembered seeing a suspicious look red truck, but he didn’t know what actually happened.

Officials searched his vehicle and found a torn up plastic jug inside the cab. The object has been taken in as evidence to be tested for fingerprints.

Jones has been recovering in Providence hospital.

His face is swollen, and his eyes are shut and full of glass.

His left cheek bone was fractured. Jones admits that he feels lucky to have survived.

“I’m just thanking the Lord because it could have been a lot worse because the truck could have rolled over… I could have hit somebody. And I’m just thankful it was no worse than it was.”

Police stated that there were multiple other reports that same morning from other truck drivers who also had objects thrown at their trucks. They all claimed to have seen the same red truck.
