A truck hauling an oversize load struck a nearly 15-foot bridge, leading to the shutdown of a busy Texas highway this week.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning, along Interstate 45 north near downtown Houston, Texas.

Danny Perez, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Transportation, said the truck lost its load after striking the Hogan overpass bridge, which was marked with a 14’9″ height clearance.

As a result of the incident, the northbound lanes were closed for several hours.

TxDOT inspectors completed a preliminary inspection and determined that the bridge did not sustain any structural damage, KHOU reported.

It has not been determined whether the truck had the proper permits or what it was transporting. However, Perez pointed out that multiple signs stating the height limit were available on the roadway.
