An explosive two-vehicle crash involving a semi truck shut down a highway in Quemado, Texas. It happened at 2:15 a.m. on Monday on U.S. 277.
Texas Department of Public Safety officials reported that a semi truck was headed southbound on U.S. 277 when it lost control while maneuvering a curve. It then crashed into a nearby house.
According to The News Gram, the semi truck was hauling containers of gas used to detonate airbags. The truck exploded and caught fire. The flames spread to a house and a passing car.
The vehicles and a home were destroyed in the explosion.
Emergency crew rushed to the scene.
According to KSAT, the driver and a passenger of the semi truck and two people from the passing car were taken to a hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
U.S. 277 was closed as a result. Motorists were redirected to FM 1644 then back to US 27. The roadway has since reopened.
The incident remains under investigation.
