Two men in an armored truck pulled over on a rural section of the I-95 after experiencing mechanical problems with their vehicle, when they were held at gunpoint by three armed robbers. The three men made off with 275 pounds of gold bars that were being transported, worth roughly $4.8 million.
The drivers worked for armored truck company, Transvalue Inc. and were on their way to Massachusetts from Miami. When they stopped on a lonely stretch of the I-95 in North Carolina, a white van pulled up aside them and the gunmen ordered the drivers on the floor. They were then tied up and the contents of their truck were stolen.
The CEO of the company, Jay Rodriguez, announced that they are offering a reward of $50,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the criminals.
