In late December 2016, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released their ‘National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries in 2015,’ an 11-page report highlighting statistics on fatal workplace injuries.

According to the report, there were 4,836 fatal workplace accidents in 2015, the highest since 2008. The occupation with the most fatal work injuries was Heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers, which incurred 745 fatal work injuries in 2015.

This means that more than 15% of all work-related deaths in America occurred among tractor-trailer truck drivers.

The study also revealed that suicide deaths decreased by 18% in 2015; but homicides were up 2% and roadway incident fatalities were up 9%
