Truck driver Efrain F. Jensen of Salem, New Jersey, was driving down the Pennsylvania Turnpike on June 1, 2014 and was unable to slow down in time when traffic came to a halt front of him.
In an attempt to avoid an accident, the 28-year-old swerved to the right, into a lane that was closed for construction. This maneuver proved tragic, as Jesnen wasn’t able to completely avoid the vehicle and ended up clipping it anyway, before striking two construction workers as well.
The driver of the other vehicle wasn’t harmed but the two construction workers were. According to NJ.com, 61-year-old William F. McGuigan, of Glenside, PA, died, while his 48-year-old co-worker survived with injuries.
On Tuesday, March 10th 2015, Jensen was charged with vehicular manslaughter and gave himself up to the police. He was released on bail of $100,000 the same day. His hearing is scheduled for later on this month.
