A truck driver was taken to a Philadelphia hospital after his rig plowed into a gas station and caught fire early Tuesday morning.
It happened at the Speedway station on Oxford Avenue and Levick Street, around 6:15 a.m.
According to NBC Philadelphia, the truck was involved in a collision with an SUV at the intersection, causing the driver to lose control of his rig and careen into the gas station.
After crashing into the station, the truck’s Shop Rite trailer caught fire.
“Smoke and flames were billowing out and then the stuff that was inside the truck, you heard a series of explosions,” said witness Rae Taylor, a local resident.
The truck driver and SUV driver were taken to a local hospital and are currently in stable condition. It’s not currently clear how the initial collision occurred.
