A truck driver who was traveling on Interstate 15 in Weber County, Utah, said he hit something in the middle of the night, but it wasn’t until he stopped several hours later that he discovered a great horned owl stuck to his grill. Miraculously, the bird was still alive.

According to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, the driver saw the bird after pulling into the Flying J truck stop on 21st street for breakfast, around 11 a.m. When he realized the bird was still alive, the local animal rescue was called in and they safely removed the bird.

Despite being hit by a moving semi truck, the bird only suffered a broken wing and is expected to make a full recovery.
