A drunk driver crashed into a semi truck in Upstate New York, and tried to leave the scene. When he realized the truck driver was following him after the crash, he crashed into the truck a second time, on purpose.

The incident occurred in Chatham, New York, on Thursday afternoon.

According to ABC-7, 48-year-old Kevin P. O’Leary initially struck the semi truck while driving drunk in his Dodge Ram and fled the scene. The truck driver called 911 while pursuing the drunk driver.

After realizing he was being followed by the semi truck, O’Leary purposely crashed into the truck again, about 15 minutes after the initial incident.

The second crash disabled his vehicle, allowing officers to arrest him at the scene.

Police reports indicate that O’Leary’s blood-alcohol-level at the time of arrest was .28 percent, more than three times the limit.

He was charged with second degree reckless endangerment and DWI.

The truck driver was not injured.
