A semi truck hauling an oversize load of two large spools got stuck on the Alaskan Way Viaduct in Seattle earlier this week before loosing his load on the roadway.

According to KING5, the driver did not have the oversize load permits to travel on the road.

The spools each weighed around half a ton, and they both toppled off of the bed of the truck after hitting the roof of the viaduct on Wednesday.

Luckily no one was hurt in the crash. However, it took the city’s transportation department over two hours to successfully place the spools back onto the bed of the truck. The morning commute was pushed back substantially.

The driver claims that he was aware of the height clearance on the viaduct, but hit a bump on the road that caused the truck to bounce and hit the overhead deck. He received a $482 citation for the accident, but may be liable for more after the roadway damage is assessed.
