A 55-year-old truck driver was hauling a load of magazines eastbound on State Road 84 last week when he lost control due to to brake failure and crashed into the bridge underneath Interstate 75 at Bonaventure Boulevard in Weston.
The crash happened at roughly 9 o’clock in the morning according to the Sun-Sentinel. The driver suffered multiple fractures and traumatic injuries, according to Mike Jachles, a spokesman for Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, and was taken to Broward Health Medical Center via airlift.
Jachles said engineers from the Florida Department of Transportation arrived on the scene to “assess the integrity of the overpass.”
