31-year-old truck driver Muniru Iddriss was involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 81 in Silver Spring Township, Pennsylvania, which claimed the lives of two motorists back in 2013.

On September 9th 2015, more than two years from the date of the accident, he was sentenced to 6 to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of recklessly endangerment.

According to Pennlive.com, more serious charges of homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter were dismissed.

Iddriss told state troopers that he was traveling in the slow lane around 55 miles-per-hour before the crash occurred.

According to police reports, his truck crashed into a Chevy Tahoe in front of him, killing a couple from New York that was inside.

During the investigation, police obtained warrants for the truck driver’s cell phone history, which showed that he was involved in four separate text message exchanges in the moments before the crash.
