After being stopped by state troopers for a missing license plate, they discovered an arsenal of weapons including a sawed off shotgun, .45 caliber handgun, Air soft pistol, butterfly knife, and a .22 caliber pistol in his rig.
His gun permit from North Carolina was not valid in New Jersey, and Aguirre was arrested on multiple weapon charges. He spent 125 days in jail while waiting to see a judge, but faced up to 10 years.
When he met the judge yesterday, his argument was that he was simply unaware that the weapons were not allowed on his rig in New Jersey. “I wish I had looked into the regulations,” he told the judge. The judge took his side and offered a plea deal that allowed him to use his time already served as punishment and released him after the hearing.
