The California Highway Patrol says a semi truck hauling a load of televisions overturned and landed on train tracks in Southern California after the driver fell asleep behind the wheel.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Interstate 5, just south of the San Onofre truck inspection facility.
According to NBC San Diego, after falling asleep on I-5, the driver went for a wild ride; first drifting off the highway, then rolling down an embankment, before finally landing on its side on top of Amtrak train tracks.
The accident brought traffic Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton to a standstill, as well as disrupting Amtrak train service between San Diego and Los Angeles. The cleanup is currently underway.
Nobody was injured in the crash. The driver’s identity has not been released.
