A truck driver is facing charges after being the victim of an attempted robbery in Memphis, Tennessee.
The truck driver was scheduled to make a delivery at the Home Depot located at the 4900 block of Stage Road on Friday morning. He arrived several hours early and decided to sleep in his truck while he waited in the store’s parking lot.
At around 5 a.m., he was awakened by three men who entered his trailer and attempted to steal the equipment he was hauling, which included lawn mowers and other Home Depot merchandise.
According to local news station WREG, the truck driver then fired a warning shot from his firearm, causing the men to flee in an SUV and abandon a second vehicle, a silver Mazda, at the scene.
While the trucker was on the phone with police the suspects returned and fired several gunshots at the trucker’s rig. He was not struck by gunfire, but was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries from shattered glass.
The three suspects fled the scene and have not yet been identified.
The truck driver, who had a gun permit, received a citation for firing a gun within city limits.
