A driver survived when a semi truck crashed and landed in a creek in Yadkin County, North Carolina. It happened on Thursday around 11:30 a.m. on I-77 near the 72 Mile Marker.

The West Yadkin Fire Department reported that the semi truck fell off of a bridge and landed on its side into a creek below.

The semi truck was severely damaged.

Thankfully, the driver walked away from the wreckage with only a broken nose.

The Fire Department wrote the following update on their Facebook page.

Station 18 assisted by Stations 9, 21, 24, & 12 along with Yadkin County EMS responded around 11:33 am today to a motor vehicle accident involving a Tractor Trailer on I-77 near the 72 Mile Marker that was over the embankment and ended up on it’s side in a creek. Extensive damage to the tractor trailer, however thankfully the driver walked away with only a broken nose. Station 16 provided a stand by crew at the 18 House. Crews are still on the scene and will probably be there until the late evening hours and possibly early Thursday morning removing the wreckage. Expect traffic delays throughout the night if using I-77 North bound from the Iredell County line. Photo credits to NCSHP E-731 and Capt. Mitchell.

Traffic was delayed on northbound I-77 as crews worked to remove the wrecked semi truck from the scene.
