A truck driver died after being shot on an Illinois highway on Friday.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. on Interstate 88 in Oak Brook, 20 miles west of Chicago.
According to police reports, 43-year-old truck driver Eduardo Munoz, of Sunrise, Florida, was traveling eastbound in a red 2007 Volvo truck when a motorist, who was also traveling eastbound, pulled up and opened fire at the truck, striking Munoz.
Munoz was able to pull over to the shoulder, near milepost 138.5, after he was shot.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.
The highway was closed for hours in order for police to conduct an investigation. As of Saturday morning, no one was in custody for the crime.
Police have have not released a description of a suspect or a vehicle. Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is being asked to contact local police.
