A truck driver was arrested after crashing into a building and fleeing the scene with his severely damaged trailer late last week.

The incident happened on Friday, September 27th, in Omaha, Nebraska.

According to the Omaha Police Department, a woman called police after witnessing the semi truck crash into the garage of the Regency Lakeside Apartments on 103rd and Pacific streets, around 4:30 a.m.

Another resident, who was inside at the time of the crash told KETV-7 reporters, “I heard a loud boom, and then I saw some lights and I sat up, and as silly as this sounds, I thought maybe it was a thunderstorm.”

Officers who were dispatched to the area found a big rig that matched witnesses’ descriptions, with a severely damaged trailer, around 105th and West Center Road.

The driver refused to stop when officers attempted to pull him over, and proceeded to take them on a short chase, which came to an end on 108th and Grover st.
