
A truck driver was arrested following a fatal collision on U.S. Highway 95 in Grangeville, Idaho, on Friday.
The accident happened shortly before 5 a.m. at the U.S. Highway 95 and State Highway 13 intersection.
Sgt. Rich Anderson of the Idaho State Patrol said the truck was traveling northbound and took a turn too fast, causing him to drift towards the right shoulder. The driver then over-corrected and lost control, crossing into the southbound lanes and striking an SUV head-on. The driver of the SUV died at the scene of the crash.
The Swift Transportation tractor trailer was driven by 28-year-old Mohamed M. Seid, of Waite Park, Minnesota. Seid was not injured in the crash. He was arrested and charged with felony vehicular manslaughter, and is currently behind held at the Idaho County Jail.
Police say there is no indication that Seid was intoxicated during the crash.
A passenger, who was in the truck’s sleeper berth at the time of the crash, was not injured.
The truck jackknifed after the collision, causing a temporary road closure. It was reopened approximately 6 hours later.
