A truck driver from New York is in hot water after New York Port Authority officers accused him of cheating the city of over $13,000 in tolls.

Kerron Maittia, 38, is accused of driving through toll booths with a passenger vehicle EZ Pass, paying the much lower passenger vehicle rates, while in his commercial rig.

Port Authority officers caught him after recognizing his license plate from a list of serial offenders. Their records indicate that Maittia passed through the toll booths twice a day, on most weekdays, and has committed over 100 violations.

He was charged with toll evasion and theft of services. According to NBC New York, he told officers that he was having financial problems and was just trying to save some money.

The tolls on major New York City bridges range from $43 to $95 for five-axle commercial vehicles.
