A tractor trailer being hauled by a wrecker broke loose and rolled into a building in Texas on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. on FM 482 in New Braunfels, Texas.
According to KVUE, the disabled tanker broke loose from the wrecker after hitting a bump on the road. It then rolled down a grassy hill before crashing into two industrial building.
The impact caused significant damage to both the vehicle and the structure. No one was inside the truck or the building at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported. The identity of the truck driver has not been released.
Traffic on FM 482 from the southbound I-35 frontage road to Solms Road was closed for about three hours while investigations and cleanup were underway.
A report by David Ferguson, New Braunfels Police Department communications coordinator, confirmed the account of the incident. He stated,
“The investigation revealed that the wrecker hit a bump in the road, which caused the tanker it was hauling to bounce up. That bounce caused the safety straps to break and dislodged the tanker from the hook that was securing it to the tow truck, allowing the 18-wheeler to roll off the wrecker.”
No citations nor criminal charges are expected to be filed.
