A semi truck and six motorcycles were involved in an accident on the southbound I-85 in Greensboro, North Carolina around 7 a.m. on Friday morning.

The motorcyclists, who were from out-of-state, parked on the side of the highway near mile marker 121 to take a break when they were struck by semi truck that swerved off the road.

One of the bikers was killed, the other five suffered injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. The truck driver was not injured.

The southbound lanes were closed for several hours as a result of the crash.

According to Fox-8, troopers said that after speaking with the truck driver, they believe he fell asleep behind the wheel.

The names of the drivers have not been released, but it’s been reported that all the motorcyclists were from Virginia. The semi truck was from Florida and had a passenger in the vehicle.

The truck did not stop at the scene of the accident, but continued for roughly half a mile before stopping due to a flat tire.
