A popular travel center in Juneau County, Wisconsin, will be closed indefinitely after a tractor trailer crashed through the building on Thursday morning.
It happened at the New Lisbon Travel Mart off Interstate 94/90 on Bridge Street in New Lisbon.
According to the New Lisbon Police Department, at approximately 5:33 a.m., 45-year-old truck driver Scott Walker drove into the store, causing the entire semi truck cab to end up inside the building, just feet away from a cashier.
“The New Lisbon Travel Mart has a Subway, A&W and the New Lisbon Family Restaurant inside of it. Due to the damage to the building from this morning’s accident, they have decided to be closed for business until further notice according to their management,” the local police chief wrote on Facebook.
“If the guy had driven to the other side, he would have hit the diesel pumps and who knows what would have happened then,” employee Ryan Fauska told reporters.
The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. No one, including the driver, was injured in the incident.
