A 5-foot sand shark ended up on Interstate 95 in Volusia County, Florida, on Wednesday after the semi truck that was hauling it blew a tire and landed in a ditch on the side of the road.

The shark that was ejected from the rig died as a result of the crash, three other sharks aboard the trailer lived. The driver of the rig, as well as two passengers, were not injured.

One of the men aboard the rig, Frank Young, told WESH-2, “(The) tire blew out and we ended up in the ditch here. Accidents happen. We’re just glad everyone is OK.”

The load was headed from Florida to an aquarium in New York.

Rescue crews carefully placed the sharks onto a new trailer. They were taken to Sea World in Orlando, where they will be cared for until a new delivery to New York can take place.
