A truck driver lost control of his rig after hitting a patch of ice and ended up dangling over an overpass on Interstate 45 in Dallas, Texas.

The rig was dangling over the edge of the bridge for nearly 24 hours, until a crane capable of lifting the truck was brought in.

The driver was able to escape shortly after the accident by jumping out the cab into the creek below. He was not injured.

Lt. Matthew Edwards told NBC 5 “He’s very lucky he got out alive.”

Rescue crews tried to pull the rig out earlier on Tuesday morning, but the first crane they brought in was not strong enough, so the truck dangled for several more hours until the second crane was able to complete the job.
