On Friday morning, in Livingston, Michigan, a semi truck hauling Budweiser beer caught fire.

According to Deputy Chief Michael Evans of the Brighton Area Fire Department, the truck driver was headed west on I-96 around 9:30 a.m.  His tire blew out between Grand River Avenue and Dorr Road in Genoa Township.

Evans told media,

“He had a tire blowout and the tire caught fire, which caught the rest of the trailer on fire.”

Evans mentioned that the trailer was stocked full of Budweiser beer.

He furthered,

“The biggest impact is after the fire was out, Corrigan (Towing) had to physically remove all the product out of the trailer in order to haul the trailer away.”

The trailer has to be unloaded of all of its cargo, cans and bottles of Budweiser, before it could be hauled away on a flatbed truck.

Detroit Free Press noted that the expressway was closed until after 2 p.m. Motorists were urged to avoid the scene and this caused a major traffic jam on the expressway and on westbound Grand River Avenue.

There were no injuries reported.
