Police say between 20 to 30 vehicles were involved in a large pileup on a snowy New York State Thruway on Thursday morning.
The pileup happened on westbound lanes of Interstate 90 near Warners, New York, just before 7:45 a.m. Police say snowy, slippery roads were a primary factor of the crash.
According to Syracuse.com, “Cars, trucks and tractor-trailers collided — coming to a rest facing different directions on the slippery highway.”
The crash shut down a 14-mile stretch of the westbound lanes for nearly five hours. As of 1:45 p.m., the right lane between Exit 39 and Exit 40 in Cayuga County was still closed.
No fatalities were reported, however three people were injured in the crash and were taken to nearby hospitals.
A motorist captured the following footage from the eastbound lanes.
Update (3:00 p.m. EST): All westbound lanes have reopened.
