Sweden’s Scania Trucks was looking for a better way to move containers within their cargo yards and decided to put one of their trucks (and drivers) to the ultimate test.
In the video, which can be seen above, a Scania R 730 pulls 10 containers, loaded onto 5 trailers, stuffed with paper pulp. The total gross weight of the load was roughly 652,000 pounds. The length of the truck and trailers measured over 295 feet.
According to Scania, “The test was partly to see what happens to the powertrain under these conditions, and to investigate whether running a vehicle of this type and load was possible when shunting.”
If you couldn’t tell, the set-up passed the test with flying colors. Just imagine backing it up…
