Three states have joined forces for a week-long crash reduction effort targeting commercial vehicles along the Interstate 94 corridor. The enforcement blitz, called “Eyes on 94” will begin on Monday, December 7th and last all week long.
“Eyes on 94” is a joint effort between Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio highway police. Officers will be targeting big rigs exclusively, looking for moving violations that could increase the risk of a crash.
In a press release by the Michigan State Police, the focus of the heightened enforcement effort will be: speeding, following too closely, improper passing, distracted driving, and improper lane use.
Police will also be stationed at rest areas along Interstate 94, handing out safety educational material.
“This initiative is a great example of the commitment by the MSP, Indiana State Police and Ohio Highway Patrol to the common goal of traffic safety and crash reduction,” said Michigan State Police Captain Michael Krumm.
“This coordinated operation is an effort to increase awareness and education by means of high visibility enforcement on the I-94 corridor, which is prone to weather-related crashes.” he added.
