A semi truck clipped an overpass on Interstate 35 in Salado, Texas causing large concrete beams to collapse on several vehicles under it.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning near mile marker 286. The bridge was under construction at the time of the crash.
Two other semi trucks and two pickup trucks suffered damage when the bridge partially collapsed. One of the pickup drivers, 32-year-old Clark Brandon Davis, died after being hit by falling debris.
According to TxDOT’s initial investigation, the semi truck that hit the bridge may have been too tall to fit underneath the 13’6″ height clearance.
The highway was shut down for 17 hours as crews cleared the scene.
