There have been two suicide-by-semi-truck incidents in as many weeks. Thankfully, one Texas man prevented us from starting the week with yet another.

Hector Sifuentes of San Marcos, Texas, published a Facebook post on Sunday evening, describing an encounter with a woman who was attempting to get hit by a semi truck on Interstate 35.

“Last night I saved a girl from killing herself. She crossed the service road wrapped in a blanket and started walking up to the busy highway.” he wrote. “She was waiting for an 18-wheeler to pass by on the right lane.”

Sifuentes explains that he lunged at the young woman and brought her to safety on the grassy highway median, where she broke down to tears.

There were at least two people saved — a young woman who thought there was no other option, and a truck driver who would have been haunted with a horrible memory for the rest of his days.

Thanks to Sifuentes’ heroic actions, both tragedies were prevented.
