54-year-old truck driver Donald Lawrence Ray, who was hauling Glycerine Ether, was unable to stop in time for the crash and swerved to avoid the accident. His truck struck a guardrail and overturned, trapping him inside. Ray had to be extracted from the rig and died at the scene.

A Waco police officer said the truck looked like a “a piece of foil wadded into a ball.”

Cardozo did not have a license and was driving the car without permission, according to the Waco Tribune.

On Wednesday, February 14th, Cardozo was charged with manslaughter, aggravated assault and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge. She remains free on $21,000 bond.
