The driver of a tanker truck was critically injured after crashing on Interstate 75 in Lincoln Park, Michigan, earlier this morning.
The incident occurred about 3 a.m. on Thursday. According to Clickondetroit.com, the 53-year-old driver lost control of his rig while traveling on the southbound lanes, crashed through the median, and overturned on the northbound lanes before his rig exploded from the impact.
Lt. Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police commented on the severity of the drivers injuries, “Right now, it’s not looking very good for the driver. He was transported. He had burns over 95 percent of his body.”
The driver, whose name has not been released, worked for Corrigan Oil Company.
The northbound lanes between Southfield Road and Outer Driver are expected to be closed for a week.
