Earlier this year, the announcement that Swift Transportation planned to install dual facing DriveCam systems in all their company trucks set off a wave of criticism around the industry.

Regional Vice President Jim Fitzsimmons and experienced Swift driver Mike Voyle responded to the criticism and emphasized the camera’s benefits in this company-produced video.

The video, posted above, was shared on the carrier’s Facebook page along with the following caption:

Ever wish you could show your DL what that “four wheeler” just did? What about a fellow driver getting points added to their CSA score because they couldn’t prove they were driving like the professional they are? The “he said, she said” ends here and Swift has your back.

Installations of the new DriveCam device are underway and feedback from drivers already using it has been very positive. There are many rumors floating around about what this device can and cannot do, so we thought we’d let one of our Diamond Drivers share his views and show you an example of how one driver used the manual trigger during a potentially unsafe situation.

Despite the company’s assurances, some Swift drivers were still skeptical.
