A surveillance camera captured shocking footage of a runaway semi truck that plowed into a parking lot. It happened on Thursday around 7 p.m. in Lansing, Michigan.

According to WLNS, the 36-year-old Canadian truck driver was driving eastbound on I-96 near the South Cedar exit when he suddenly lost control of his rig. The truck drifted across the median and careened through the westbound lanes before it crashed into a light pole at the Shaheen Chevrolet parking lot.

Emergency crews had to remove him from the vehicle as the cab had filled with smoke. He was then airlifted to the hospital after having suffered smoke inhalation.
