A section of Interstate 35 was shut down after a man walked onto the highway and committed ‘suicide-by-truck’ near New Braunfels, Texas, on Friday morning.

The 17-year-old Texas man pulled his pickup truck over on a grassy median in the 3900 block of Interstate 35 and “intentionally walked directly in front of the oncoming 18-wheeler,” according to NBPD spokesman David Ferguson.

He was pronounced dead by the time paramedics arrive.

The 52-year-old Indiana truck driver was not injured. No charges are citations will be filed in connection with the crash, Ferguson said.

All southbound lanes were closed between Kohlenberg and FM306. Officials have not released an estimated time for reopened.

The southbound lanes have been reopened, NBPD reports.
