A portion of Interstate 25 between Colorado and Wyoming has been shut down due to strong winds.
The closure begins at mile marker 292 in Colorado (5 miles south of Wyoming/Colorado border) and ends in Cheyenne, Wyoming. All northbound lanes are closed due to the accident.
The area is experiencing extremely strong winds, which are reported to be between 50 to 65 mph.
In addition to the northbound closure, Wyoming DOT has issued a high wind restriction for high profile vehicles in both directions.
The restriction targets the following:
“The closure is targeted at vehicles that are prone to being blown over or being blown off the road such as recreational vehicles, moving vans, campers, small trailers and lightly loaded commercial vehicles but smaller vehicles pulling trailers are also included in this restriction.”
The restriction is still in place as of 2:41 PM (MST).
