Today in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, a dump truck hauling a load of manure was involved in a collision.
The crash occurred around 12 p.m. on I-295 in Mercer County, near exit 63 for Sloane Avenue.
State Police spokesman Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams stated that:
“The truck was traveling northbound when it veered across the grassy center median and the three southbound lanes around 12:10 p.m. between Sloan Avenue and Route 535 in Hamilton. The truck wound up down an embankment on its side.”
The dump truck left a trail of manure strewn across the roadway.
According to 6 ABC, two SUV’s were involved, one with front-end, and one with left-end damage.
They were towed from the scene with flatbed trucks.
The dump truck was up-righted with the use of two wreckers.
But after 4 p.m., workers continue to clean the scene and repair damage to shoulders and guardrails.
As a result, lanes closed and a multi-mile delay occurred for most of the afternoon along I-295.
NJ1015 reported that the driver of one of the SUV’s involved and the truck driver were both hospitalized.
Investigations are still underway to discover what caused the driver to cross the highway.
No charges have yet been filed.
