Lincoln police and the Nebraska State Patrol joined forces yesterday to conduct surprise semi-truck inspections on several major highways.

Officials performed 104 inspections and found 384 violations. Omaha News reported that violations included reasons such as bad brakes and tires or other safety risks.

In total, 45 out of 104 trucks inspected were placed out of service. In addition, four drivers were placed out of service for not having a driver’s license or a commercial driver’s license.

Officials issued $7,315 in total fines.

More surprise inspection blitzes are to be expected during the fall across Nebraska. These inspections will target commercial vehicles that may not normally pass through weigh stations in their typical routes.
